Equal Rights Amendment

Equal Rights Amendment is a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution designed to guarantee equal legal rights for all American citizens regardless of sex; it seeks to end the legal distinctions between men and women in terms of divorce, property, employment, and other matters.

As the paragraph above states, men and women should be equal under our constitution regardless of sex, marital status, job position, individual rights and any other matters. Ask yourself a question, should a man be more valuable than a women or vice versa? In what basis and for what purpose? Do the above questions or an inequality statement seem fair and just, or it sounds arbitrary and bias?

I respect everyone’s opinion on this matter and any other matters of course. Respect for each other’s beliefs, our ideas, our goals, our personal time, our family construction, our self development, our free time, our way of communication and how we think among other things, should be respected as an individual’s right and consideration for each other. We do things better and become successful as an individual, a group or as a society, when we find common goals, we discuss plans and rights, and we communicate properly. We are humans and yet, we all have smaller differences. These differences vary in many forms: where are we from, from what state or country, how we were raised, what are our customs, our religion, language, sex, race, age, culture and more. Yes, we are different in some ways, but we still men and women.

Why do some of us ignore and forget that children are born from a man and a woman, why should we forget that men and women came from the womb of a woman and the women’s egg is fertilized by men sperm, why should we think men are stronger and better than women, “said who”? and what good valid statements can be made on that assumption?

There are many questions and discussions on this subject. Many will argue that is nature, evolution and that men are the strongest creature out of the two sexes, with better traits, intelligence, abilities, and talents among others. Many will use ideas that lack well know facts, smart thinking and common sense, of why men are better than women. Wouldn’t a smart creature, (this being an individual, man or woman), use a critical thought process before making any comparisons or allegations against a subject or human being?

Perhaps, one should discuss important questions to understand equality and respect. Why would someone alienate, discriminate, be racist, prejudist, bias, rape, underpay, abuse, beat up, undermine, diminish or be dismissive to women. Does this make someone feel more important, better and more powerful than women and maybe other men too? Did someone forget they came out of a woman’s womb? Did someone forget or seem to ignore all the things women do in our society, family, schools, hospitals, and many other positions do for us. Where is men wisdom and why men think they are better than women?

I am not here to criticize anyone’s point of view or say some some people are right or wrong, no, I never stated that. I am here to open everyone’s eyes for equality and even rights for men and women. Here are some cultural sayings or quotes to think about…
