On The Issues

Candidate Political research, assessment and review of government officials. On The Issues is a page where one can research office candidates by their views on each political platform.

We all contribute to our society and country through our jobs, positions, what we do and the actions we take on a daily basis. We all have an influence to others, we share common resources and have a voice in what is done in this country. We choose our leaders through local, state, and federal elections every few years, depending of each government official’s serving term.

We can either be passive and let others choose our leaders or be active and responsibly take the time to research and vote for the right candidate. One should research well each office candidate. His or her credibility, career experience, political agenda, pros and cons, beliefs and character. This is very important while choosing the senate members, house of representatives, government officials and presidential candidates.

I encourage everyone (interested or not in politics), to make an effort to allow your personal perception or views to reason well critical statements. Things we do daily, learn, eat, see, work for and share with others, make a huge difference in out lifestyle, health and mind set. In the same way, each person’s mind set affects our contribution to our society and our government’s prosperous and efficient leadership.

If we allow negative behaviors such as: negligence, ignorance, passive lifestyle, narcissistic behavior, prejudice, judgemental thinking, racism, inequality, disrespect of human rights and values, then how are we supposed to find solutions to our current social and political issues.

We won’t be able to achieve and share valuable knowledge, improve our healthcare and education systems, create more jobs, pledge and enforce equality and opportunities for all. We won’t be able to fix our domestic and national issues, have true democracy and justice for all. If we don’t make an effort to be just and fair to each other, then we will continue to be in a cycle of grandiosity, power and control others and the masses. Last time I checked we were a democratic nation, not a dictatorship or other suppressive nation.

Our common goal should be to look for the right candidate, “not a candidate” (that you see on TV’s advertisement, door fliers, word of mouth, and say, (Oh.. honey .. this is the candidate’s so and so neighbor or friend is voting for, we should vote for him/her too). Instead of looking for the best candidate that will take charge of our country, and make a difference in the nation’s well being and future. What do you think we need for our nation? A true – honest – hard working – smart leader that lead by example, or a bias – dishonest – self center – narcissist, follower and puppet to lead our country?

If we want to be the best of ourselves, “Be someone”, (Houston H-town moto by the way), increase self development and wisdom, be that “special one” we are looking for, be successful and confident, “be all you can be”, then daily hard work and a great price must be paid. Nothing comes for free, does it?

Referring to the previous paragraph, why would any of us think that, any person out there, (or candidate in this case), is going to do his/ her best to represent us and make smart decisions in our government. Can anyone say that, we all were raised to do our best for “The greater good?”, and if we did, will every candidate have great values and principles?, [Example, Army values, such us: “Selfless service value”?]

Now, lets think of some critical questions: 1. Will you trust anyone on the street to watch your children?, 2. Will you trust anyone to work on your car engine and critical parts?, 3. Will you trust anyone to lead your country and manage all the nation’s infrastructure systems… etc? I am pretty sure the answer is NO. Ok then, lets each one of us contribute for trust, better education, better government, better laws, better lifestyle and better us.

If we say we are responsible citizens then, we should think on solving, contributing and improving our children, our family and our life. The answer to many issues sometimes is just, “To be pro-active and pro-informed”. Let your voice be heard and vote when there are local, state and federal elections. Your family, friends, neighbors, and this country’s fellow citizens will thank you forever!
